Sign Up Once

Call us at (833) 65CHECK or register online. Tell us what time you'd like your daily call (between 8 AM and 5 PM). Give us a backup contact person if you have one—like a family member or neighbor.

Answer Your Daily Call

Every day at your chosen time, your phone will ring. It's the same number every time, so you'll recognize it. Just answer and say "I'm OK" or press 1 on your phone. The call takes less than 30 seconds.

We Keep Trying if You Don't Answer

If you don't answer, we'll call back two more times. Maybe you're in the shower or outside. We understand. We'll try three times total to reach you.

Help Comes If Needed

If you still don't answer after three tries, we call your backup contact person. If they can't reach you either, we contact local authorities to check on you. You're never left alone without help.

Common Questions

Who can use 65 Check?
Any California resident who is 65 or older. You just need a working phone—it can be a cell phone or a regular home phone. The service is completely free.
Do I need a smartphone or computer?
No! You just need any phone that can receive calls. No apps, no internet, no technology skills required.
What if I'm going on vacation?
Just call us at (833) 65CHECK at least 3 days before you leave. We can pause your calls for up to 30 days while you're away. When you're back, we'll start calling again.
Can I change my call time?
Yes! Call us at (833) 65CHECK and we'll change it for you. It takes about 3 days for the new time to take effect.
Who should I choose as my backup contact?
Pick someone who:
  • Lives nearby and can check on you quickly
  • Usually answers their phone
  • You trust (like family, a close friend, or neighbor)
A backup contact is optional but strongly recommended.
Will the same phone number call me every day?
Yes! The call always comes from the same number. You can save it in your phone as "65 Check" so you always know it's us.
What if I want to stop the service?
You can stop anytime. Just call (833) 65CHECK and tell us. It takes about 7 days to stop the calls completely.
Is the call in English only?
Right now, yes. But we're working to add Spanish and other languages soon.
How much does this cost?
Nothing! 65 Check is 100% free for all California seniors 65 and older. We're a nonprofit organization funded by donations.
